Cousins Subs® Unveils New Logo And Restaurant Design

(Menomonee Falls, WI)---Nearly 40 years ago, Cousins Subs opened for business in Milwaukee and introduced to the Midwest a favorite childhood staple of cousins and former New Jersey natives Bill Specht and Jim Sheppard: East Coast-style submarine sandwiches. Today, Cousins Subs has grown to over 150 locations in six states and has now unveiled both a new company logo and store prototype that will be featured in all new restaurants built after January 2010.

The updated look was a collaborative effort between Milwaukee-based companies Welke Group for the logo and RCS Retail Interiors for the new front-of-house restaurant design. The logo will keep its signature red and yellow colors, but will now feature a friendlier, easier to read type with a subtle green-striped border that communicates fresher, healthier food. It will also be shown with a highlight to give added depth and a three-dimensional feel.

Until this point, a standard Cousins Subs varied in square footage from 1800 to 2200 square feet. The new prototype will remain consistent at 1600 square feet and along with a brand new décor package the stores will feature colorful wall art, referred to as "Heritage Graphics." The five-foot long images will portray the artisanship of Cousins Subs products illustrating the homemade bread, which is baked fresh multiple times per day, the highest quality meats and cheeses and the farm-fresh produce that go into making each handcrafted sub. The "Heritage Graphics" will serve as a constant reminder of Cousins Subs' dedication to value and providing the best quality food. Each new restaurant will also host a three-foot by three-foot "History Board," portraying a collage of picture and text boxes, telling the story of Cousins Subs from 1972 to the present.

"With a new year ahead of us, we feel now is a great time to evolve our look," says Christine Specht, Cousins' president and chief operating officer. "The new logo is fresh and modern and our restaurants will be even more attractive while staying true to our down-to-earth atmosphere. We're also excited to be able to incorporate the pride of our family heritage and share the story of Cousins Subs with our patrons through visual wall art."

Cousins Subs, based in Menomonee Falls in suburban Milwaukee, is a restaurant specializing in East Coast-style submarine sandwiches made with the finest ingredients served on a variety of freshly baked breads, along with salads, soups, chips and soft drinks.  The tradition of Cousins Subs started in 1972, when two transplanted cousins from Atlantic City saw the need for an East Coast-style sub shop in their new hometown.  They patterned their subs after the hoagie, grinder, hero and sub sandwiches they enjoyed back East.  And with a dedication to delivering quality subs at fair prices, they opened their first restaurant.  From the start, the two used bread baked fresh every morning and insisted on using only the finest, freshest ingredients.  For more information, visit www.cousinssubs.com.  You can also find Cousins Subs on Facebook and Twitter.
