Cousins Subs Moo-la-palooza Seeks Grand Champion Of Moo

Milwaukee, WI – People will travel from near and far this August to be part of an extraordinary event - Cousins Subs Moo-la-palooza. It began in 2004 as a humble fundraiser for 4H and has quickly churned into a world famous gathering. The moo-off attracts tougher, more creative competition each year and additional herds of fans. To accommodate the growing crowd, the contest is being moved from Central Mall to Cousins Subs Amphitheater & Bazaar – the largest free stage on the fair grounds. The expansive venue is fitting for a contest that can’t seem to stop growing.

“It’s the kind of experience you go home and tell your friends and family about,” says Vice President of Marketing Larry Weissman. “You can’t help but get wrapped-up in the enthusiasm of the audience and participants.”

In addition to providing fairgoers a memorable experience, Cousins Subs Moo-la-palooza raises money and awareness for Wisconsin 4H Foundation which is a youth organization that teaches kids life and leadership skills. For every participant in the contest, Cousins Subs will make a $20 donation.

“Cousins Subs Moo-la-palooza is an event our organization looks forward to every year,” says Wisconsin 4H Foundation Director Pat Harrington. “It allows us to have some fun with community members and fairgoers that we might not otherwise get a chance to interact with.” The money and awareness raised from Cousins Subs Moo-la-palooza supports over 100,000 youth that participate in Wisconsin 4H programs.

The contest works by allowing each participant to bellow their best moo on stage. A panel of esteemed judges rates each moo on realism and style – so creativity counts! The mooer with the highest point total at the end is adorned with the coveted moo jacket and Grand Champion ribbon. In addition to the unquantifiable perks of becoming a celebrity, the winner also gets a $1,000 prize check, Cousins Subs sandwiches for a year and cheese for a year from Sargento. A Best in Show prize category will recognize the contestant that cheeses it up the most. The prize, quite appropriately, is a year supply of cheese from Sargento and a Cousins Subs gift card.

Registration is free and open to anyone five years of age and older. The reigning champion gets an automatic entry into the following year’s contest and the remaining spots are secured on a first come first serve basis, so contest hopefuls are encouraged to arrive early on Saturday, August 11.

The bigger and better fourth annual Cousins Subs Moo-la-palooza will take place Saturday, August 11 at Cousins Subs Amphitheater and Bazaar. Registration opens at 1:00 pm and the contest will commence at 2:00 pm with a moo-anthem. Kiddie Korral, a free dairy-themed game zone for children, will be operating along side the stage from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm or until prizes run out.

About Cousins Subs

Cousins Subs is based in Milwaukee, Wis., and is a national sub sandwich chain with stores throughout the Midwest and on the West Coast. The tradition of Cousins Subs started in 1972, when two transplanted cousins from Atlantic City saw the need for an East coast–style sub shop in their new hometown. They patterned their subs after the hoagie, grinder, hero and sub sandwiches they enjoyed back East. And with a dedication to delivering quality subs at fair prices, they opened their first restaurant. From the start, the two used bread baked fresh every morning and insisted on using only the finest, freshest ingredients.
