The 2007 Cattle Call is on! Cousins Subs Takes Mooing Contest National
Menomonee Falls, WI – Cousins Subs Moo-la-palooza at the Wisconsin State Fair has swelled in popularity since its debut in 2004. The annual mooing contest puts fairgoers on stage to belt out their best moo to the crowd. A panel of judges evaluates their effort and the contestant considered best ‘mooer’ wins the title, the coveted moo jacket, $1000 in cash and other great prizes including Cousins Subs for a year. In the quest to find the best “mooer”, Cousins Subs is taking the contest national with an online video contest called Cousins Subs Moo Trials to warm up for the main event.
“There are a limited number of spots in the contest and a growing interest in competing,” says Cousins Subs Vice President of Marketing Larry Weissman. “It’s a good problem to have but maintaining the integrity of the contest is important to us. We want the best ‘mooers’ in the nation and hosting an online video contest is a huge step in that direction.”
The winner of Cousins Subs Moo Trials will win a unique vacation - a trip to the Wisconsin State Fair and automatic entry into Cousins Subs Moo-la-palooza to compete for the real title. To enter the online contest, contestants submit a digital video of themselves mooing to YouTube that will be rated on popularity, creativity, entertainment value and realism. They then must register at www.cousinssubs.com/moo. Cousins Subs Moo Trials runs July 1 through midnight on July 31. The winner will be notified immediately and travel arrangements will begin to get them to the fair.
“West Allis, Wisconsin might not be a top vacation destination, but our Moo Trials winner will be in for the experience of a lifetime,” says Weissman.
Cousins Subs Moo-la-palooza has harvested thousands of dollars in support of the Wisconsin 4-H Foundation since the contest debuted in 2004. Cousins Subs is elevating its partnership with 4-H by using Moo Trials as another tool to promote and raise money for the admirable organization. For every qualifying video entry, Cousins Subs will donate $1 to 4-H (up to $500). For more information including official rules, visit www.cousinssubs.com/moo.
About Cousins Subs
Cousins Subs is based in Milwaukee, Wis., and is a national sub sandwich chain with stores throughout the Midwest and on the West Coast. The tradition of Cousins Subs started in 1972, when two transplanted cousins from Atlantic City saw the need for an East coast–style sub shop in their new hometown. They patterned their subs after the hoagie, grinder, hero and sub sandwiches they enjoyed back East. And with a dedication to delivering quality subs at fair prices, they opened their first restaurant. From the start, the two used bread baked fresh every morning and insisted on using only the finest, freshest ingredients.
