Long-Time Cousins Subs Employee Becomes Store Owner

Milwaukee, WI – Cousins Subs Systems, Inc. recently announced the opening of a new store owned by Cheri Bourdo, a long-time employee of Cousins Subs, in Milwaukee, Wis. The store, which officially opened Jan. 17, celebrated its grand opening on Feb. 14.

"I am very excited to open the downtown Milwaukee store," said Cheri Bourdo. "It has always been my dream to open my own store; I have wanted to do this since I first started working for Cousins Subs."

Bourdo, a Wisconsin native, has worked with Cousins Subs for nearly 26 years: she started out as a member of the Cousins Subs work crew and worked her way up to supervisor, where she oversaw operations for several different Cousins Subs locations. As a working single mother, Cousins Subs put Bourdo through college and when the time was right, she decided to purchase her own franchise. Bourdo plans to keep the Cousins Subs tradition within the family with her son managing the new store.

"We are pleased to have Cheri Bourdo opening her first store," said Cousins Subs Manager of Franchise Sales and Recruitment Kerry Espich. "She is an integral part of the Cousins Subs team, and we look forward to the new store's success."

About Cousins Subs

Cousins Subs is based in Milwaukee, Wis., and is a national sub sandwich chain with stores throughout the Midwest and on the West Coast. The tradition of Cousins Subs started in 1972, when two transplanted cousins from Atlantic City saw the need for an East coast–style sub shop in their new hometown. They patterned their subs after the hoagie, grinder, hero and sub sandwiches they enjoyed back East. And with a dedication to delivering quality subs at fair prices, they opened their first restaurant. From the start, the two used bread baked fresh every morning and insisted on using only the finest, freshest ingredients.
