Forecast For March 11: Flying Leprechauns
Milwaukee, Wis. - On March 11th immediately following Milwaukee's St. Patrick's Day Parade, leprechauns will take Pere Marquette Park by storm. All of Milwaukee is invited to participate in the first annual Leprechaun Launch, a tossing of giant, stuffed leprechaun dolls, with three winners walking away with a "pot of gold" worth $1,000 each.
As part of the celebration, Cousins Subs' will donate $20 to the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) for each person who tosses a leprechaun. Contestants will be divided into three divisions (men, women and children under 12) with winner from each awarded $1,000 for tossing the leprechaun the farthest (the child who wins will receive a $1,000 savings bond). Local Irish band Frogwater will provide tunes and younger kids can play and make Irish-themed crafts.
A special division for MSOE students will entertain the crowd with leprechaun catapult devices specially made by the students to accurately land on a target. One of the five participating student teams will also take home a $1,000 prize.
Attendees can register on site, beginning at 1:30 on March 11, and everyone who tosses a leprechaun will also receive a free t-shirt. "We expect that the Leprechaun Launch will answer the age old debate of how far leprechauns can be tossed," said Larry Weissman, Cousins Subs' vice-president of marketing. "This event engages the crowd, builds awareness of the MDA, and adds another element of fun to one of the happiest holidays we celebrate in Milwaukee - St. Patrick's Day."
To raise more money and awareness for MDA, Cousins Subs will also participate in the Shamrocks Against Dystrophy mobile program at each restaurant beginning February 20th and going through March 17th. In 2005, Cousins Subs helped raise about $10,000 for the MDA through Shamrocks Against Dystrophy mobile sales. Nationally, Shamrocks Against Dystrophy, the nation's largest charitable campaign associated with St. Patrick's Day, raised more than $11 million last year through the efforts of volunteers, participating businesses and sponsors. Funds raised through Shamrock sales support MDA's vital research and service programs, including summer camps and local clinics.

About Cousins Subs
Cousins Subs is based in Milwaukee, Wis., and is a national sub sandwich chain with stores throughout the Midwest and on the West Coast. The tradition of Cousins Subs started in 1972, when two transplanted cousins from Atlantic City saw the need for an East coast-style sub shop in their new hometown. They patterned their subs after the hoagie, grinder, hero and sub sandwiches they enjoyed back East. And with a dedication to delivering quality subs at fair prices, they opened their first restaurant. From the start, the two used bread baked fresh every morning and insisted on using only the finest, freshest ingredients.
