The first Cousins Subs opened in Milwaukee in 1972. Since then it has grown into a 161-restaurant chain in 10 states. Cousins Subs plans to open 15 locations in 2006. “We looking forward to the openings of several new locations over the next year,” says Maria Piotter, vice president of franchising. “The Cousins Subs concept has attracted these long term franchisees because of the tremendous growth of the quick-casual segment which Cousins Subs helped pioneer when it began franchising in the late 1980s. The high average unit volumes, low food and labor costs, and ease of operation makes Cousins Subs an extremely attractive concept for our franchisees,” concludes Piotter.

About Cousins Subs

Cousins Subs is based in Milwaukee, Wis., and is a national sub sandwich chain with stores throughout the Midwest and on the West Coast. The tradition of Cousins Subs started in 1972, when two transplanted cousins from Atlantic City saw the need for an East-coast style sub shop in their new hometown. They patterned their subs after the hoagie, grinder, hero and sub sandwiches they enjoyed back East. From the start, the two used bread baked fresh every morning and insisted on using only the finest, freshest ingredients.
